Installation and Performance
In its dormant stage as an installation, a single contact microphone attached to the branch sends the sounds of its vibrations to a speaker touching the other end of the branch. The feedback loop creates a resonant tone. Depending on the humidity of the room, this tone changes.
Visitors are invited to touch the branch to explore new modes of perception and navigation.
In each performance I amplify sounds of my body (bones, breath, joints) and blend them to influence the resonant sounds of the branch.
During its presentation in the ITP 2022 Spring Show, three rounds of performances were performed each night, one hour apart.
Materials: tree branch, jute rope, contact microphones, audio interface, speaker, macbook, tape, dirt, XLR lights.
